Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
The Central England AAA Screening Programme is an NHS Population Screening Programme, hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, providing abdominal ultrasound scans to gentlemen in their 65th year to detect the presence of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a bulge or swelling in the aorta, the major blood vessel that carries blood from the heart down to the abdomen. It's essentially a weakened area of the aorta wall that balloons outwards like a bubble. While many AAAs don't cause problems, they can be dangerous because they risk bursting (rupturing), which can lead to life-threatening bleeding
